Today the University of Rochester Vegetarian Education Group (UR-VEG) and Compassionate Consumers delivered over 2,100 petition signatures--each of them concealed inside a plastic egg--to CEO Danny Wegman of Wegmans Food Markets. The signatures are from concerned consumers, urging Wegmans to phase out the use of cruel battery cages at its company-run egg farm in Wolcott.

Danny Wegman has so far ignored the concerns of his customers who have expressed shock and disgust at the inhumane conditions at Wegmans Egg Farm. Today over 2,100 of those customers let Danny know that they expect Wegmans to improve these conditions and go cage-free.
