UR-VEG, the University of Rochester Vegetarian Education Group, is now showing a smaller version of Wegmans Cruelty in Quicktime format over on their web site. Although the smaller copy isn't as clear as the version downloadable here, it's perfect for people who can't use BitTorrent or order the DVD version. |

 We've gotten requests for some simple method to tell Wegmans that battery cages are unacceptable. We've decided to make up our own comment card based on the cards HSUS has made for their battery cage campaign.

 We've had great success handing out these cards [PDF] in public places, or at coffee shops and stores when we get permission. We print them two sided on card stock and then cut them down. Activists have been spreading them around the region and saying to people "Please visit this web site when you have the chance." One person called us to say she was upset that someone had dropped one of these inside of her car at a Wegmans store. That's not what we had in mind when we made these available. Be sure to stay on public property and away from vehicles when you hand them out, and be respectful! And thank you for promoting the film. |

Rochester, NY – Earlier this week, city resident Jodi Chemes was fired from the Rochester office of Deloitte & Touche due to her involvement in a current animal protection campaign. Chemes is a member of Rochester-based Compassionate Consumers, which released a 30-minute video depicting conditions at Wegmans Egg Farm in Wolcott, NY on July 2. |
